Today: “Discussion on regional activities under the framework of the ECPA alliance will be held at OAS”

Today, at 10:00 am, a discussion on regional activities under the framework of the ECPA alliance will be held at OAS. Invited panelists will be participating in this debate, which will be moderated by Mark Lambrides, Section Chief OAS, ECPA Clearinghouse.

The main topic to be discussed will be about the innovative initiatives that are being implemented in the region so as to make a rational use of energy resources and a make government more aware of the climate change issue. This event is hosted by the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs at the Department of State, Organization of American States, and Partners of the Americas.

The event will star with the welcome and introduction of OAS Executive Secretary for Integral Development, Jorge Saggiante and will be followed by interventions and lectures by Matthew Rooney Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs; Andres Gonzalez, Colombia Ambassador, and a group of panelist that includes Roberto Bernardo Saladin Selin, Ambassador, Dominican Republic Permanent Representative; Mathias Vuille, Senior ECPA Fellow and Associate Professor at State University of New York; Samuel Browne, Deputy Director, Office of American Affairs, Office of Policy and International Affairs, U.S. Department of Energy; and Stewart Sarkozy-Banoczy from the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development

The Energy and Climate Partnership of the America (ECPA) Senior Fellows Program is a capacity building program that was launched in 2010 to share best practices with our partners throughout the Americas. ECPA Senior Fellows are experts from the academic, non-profit, and private sector that carry out speaking engagements and act as consultants in the Western Hemisphere. Embassies are encouraged to select ECPA Senior Fellows whose expertise matches the needs of host country governments, the private sector, and civil society and non-profits. Posts are requested to work with Partners of the Americas to coordinate travel and logistics.
